ABOUT
Georgina Hickman
I am a counselor because I believe you are worth experiencing healing despite your past or current challenges and traumas. We live in a broken world, but that does not mean hope, healing, and joy are not possible, because they are. I am passionate about providing a safe space for you to grieve, grow, and take back your life. It is a privilege to learn about the experiences that have shaped you and to walk alongside you as you step into freedom. I believe in the importance of addressing the mind, body, and soul collectively so that you can achieve health in all facets of life.
With my own personal struggles of depression, past unresolved trauma, and grief I’ve experienced the beauty of a positive counseling relationship and desire to give back what has been given to me. I’ve wanted to be a counselor since I was a teenager. Life has taken its twists and turns and it’s taken longer than expected, but through it all, I’ve learned that it’s never too late to be who you’re called to be.
I am bilingual and bicultural and work from a multicultural perspective regarding the complexities of cultural expectations and societal pressures. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a trauma therapy technique, have led sexual abuse recovery groups, and am trauma informed. In addition, I am in the process of completing certification hours to be a fully Certified Sex Therapist with the hope of helping couples gain back healthy intimacy. It is a privilege to work with couples to address intimacy and communication challenges with the goal of helping relationships and marriages thrive emotionally, psychologically, physically, and sexually. Aspects of Sex Therapy include communication, differing sexual desire levels, erectile dysfunction, inability to orgasm, infertility, female sexual pain, post-partum challenges, and past-sexual trauma. I offer a Christian worldview, yet I am not limited to faith-based therapy and welcome all walks of life and backgrounds. You do not have to walk through this alone anymore.
