History:

I wholeheartedly believe my calling is to serve in both counseling and chaplaincy. It is something that I experience as an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to walk alongside others through difficult seasons, and harvest the seed of hope and healing together.

In my experience, I have served as a Chaplain in trauma level hospitals. It has been during this time that my personal familial history of death and dying sparked the desire to journey into grief counseling. Both sets of grandparents passed away at a young age, and both my mom and aunt wrestled with ALS till they peacefully transitioned when I was a young woman. It is due to their incredible stories and legacies that are alive and well that I now passionately seek to work with those whose hearts ache for the one’s they have lost or the ones they have yet to know. As a Chaplain I was able to witness and meet so many families and hear their amazing stories. I always prayed for those families that after they left the hospital, they would continue to find ways to love the one who passed, and experience a sense of peace and reassurance for their hurting souls. This is now something that I hope I will be able to help as I serve in this practice.

As a Chaplain, I specialized serving in the Oncology and Women’s and Children’s Units. These units have been ones that are forever changed and impacted the way I see illness and loss. A friend once told me that hospitals are places for both miracles, and suffering. It is a safe space for those to come who are experiencing their deepest pains, but often a place as well where the healing is found where one least expects. This can weigh on health professionals, both in the hospital and outside of. There was a program I was trained and often facilitated in the hospital entitled, Sacred Vocation. It was and is one of my favorite things to do. In this time professionals were able to find meaning within their calling, seek refuge in discovering their own rhythms of self-care, and foster resilience to be able to continue to serve with the passion one professionally craves. This is one reason why as a Counselor I am grateful to specialize in compassion fatigue and burnout, and wish to be a safe space to process for any professional that needs one.
