Specialties: Children (age 7-12), Adolescents (ages 13-17) and Young Adults (ages 18-22) Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Grief and Loss, and Parenting.

History: After graduating with a degree in Marketing from the University of Texas, I realized I was meant for other things. It was during this time that I spoke to a close friend’s mother, who worked in the counseling field. What she did and how she helped others made me realize I needed to change my career. My natural willingness and care for others seemed to be an ideal fit for this new growth opportunity in my life. I obtained valuable experience while volunteering at a crisis line and a children’s grief program prior to pursing my graduate degree in social work. These experiences brought me to my true calling.

Since 2003, I have worked at an elementary school, a state agency, and community mental health clinics. These different settings allowed me to work with children, teens and their parents. The families I’ve worked with sought out counseling for various reasons. Some clients struggled with changes in their families, loss of a loved one or difficulties with peers. Parents brought their teens due to concerns about depression or anxiety. Many of my clients experienced some form of abuse including verbal, physical or sexual. My passion is to help children, teens and their parents start the healing process.

Remember you are the expert on your child. Seeing your son or daughter struggle is not easy and sometimes these struggles require additional support. Taking the step to reach out for help can be hard. Recognizing this, I strive to create a safe, supportive and collaborative environment with my clients and their parents. Each client is unique and special so their treatment will be customized to best meet their needs. Different age appropriate techniques along with parental support will be used to address the presenting concern, recognize the individual’s strengths, identify healthy coping skills and process the changes. Counseling is designed to help children and teens become more successful in managing their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and learning new problem-solving skills. The ultimate goal is for your child or teen to experience increased successes and improved self-esteem. Take the first step by calling me at 214-740-4929 to learn more.
