Kristin Goodwin – Counselor

Kristin Goodwin

Specialties: Eating disorders, working with Partners of Sex and Porn addicted men, Depression, Anxiety, Major Lifestyle Changes, PTSD, Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse.

History: I studied Psychology and Sociology at Texas Tech University and then went on to a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). I have worked in several levels of care settings including partial hospitalization units, intensive outpatient programs and as an outpatient counselor in private practice. I have experience working with a variety of populations including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, PTSD, addictions, domestic violence and sexual assault. My primary focus is on issues related to adult and adolescents struggling with eating disorders, body image concerns and low-self- esteem.

My integrative therapeutic approach allows me to individualize the treatment and to truly meet each client where they are. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) have proven to be extremely successful modalities for treatment; I have received intensive training in both.  I believe that quite often the family system is essential to progress and success in treatment and the family should be included throughout the therapeutic process.

I recognize it can be difficult to seek therapy and I will work to create a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable when sharing your story, struggles and goals with me. I believe in helping people establish a balanced life through healthy relationships, both with themselves and others.
