Gary Dietz – Counselor

Gary Dietz

Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision of Tamara Allen, LPCS

Specialties: Pornography and sex addiction, alcohol and chemical dependency, marriage and family, blended families, adolescent issues, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and chronic pain. As a retired police officer, I have a special affinity for first responders.

History: What began as a desire to help people in my teenage years evolved into a lifetime quest. Now over 40 years later, I see how that fledgling interest set my course in life toward careers aimed at helping people and lifting their spirits. That course led me from Big Brother volunteer, to a career as a pastor, a police officer and now as a counselor. Each profession and the countless interactions with people in crisis enlarged my compassion for people, increased my understanding of the human condition and helped me mature as a person who in one form or another has now counseled people from all walks of life.

While I have witnessed many things throughout those years, the pain of watching family and friends struggle with marital problems, divorce, pornography and sex addiction, blended family struggles, trauma, PTSD, anxiety and depression convinced me a mid-course correction was in order. So I decided to direct my energies and experience to help people through counseling. As I look back upon the twisted path of my past, I see footprints; footprints I have tread, but more amazing, the footprints of those who walked with me in my hour of pain. That is my philosophy of counseling, to come alongside and walk with each person in his or her hour of pain, and offer help. That is my life quest.
